Constant Earth Rotation, Universe System Port

Round and Round

Why do we have leap seconds if “time is more accurately measured than any other physical entity?” Why do we add extra seconds some years and not others? Is the average rotation rate of the Earth slowing or speeding up from year to year? We answer these questions and many more with new discoveries that quantify how we measure time in the Time Model, Chapter 20. We restore Time to its proper place once we discover the natural, physical mechanism that keeps time constant, and we read about the origin of time in this chapter. Furthermore, we learn the reason how atomic time and Earth time relate in ways never before understood.
